Prevention Specialist (Too Good For Drugs Program)

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to reduce the incidence of adolescent drug usage and violence through providing alcohol and drugprevention services in High School, Middle School and community settings. These services will improve critical life and social skillsincluding decision making, refusal skills, critical analysis, and systematic judgment abilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Develop expertise in the Too Good for Drugs and Too Good for Drugs and Violence curricula.
Provide outreach to students of all racial, ethnic, and social backgrounds, to encourage students to attend prevention classes.Provide outreach workshops, seminars, etc. to families to increase awareness of available prevention services.
In conjunction with Step Up! Staff, and where appropriate, make special outreach contact to the families and siblings of Step Up!Clients.
Make contacts with school personnel and faculty to develop opportunities for prevention services within the classrooms.
Make community contact to develop opportunities for prevention services provided in community settings (churches, recreationcenters, etc.).
Provide faculty development through training provided by the Too Good For Drugs curricula which will enhance facultyunderstanding and command of strategies which will lead to fewer incidence of drug usage and violence
Provide contact with and training for parents through the Too Good for Drugs curricula through quarterly family nights,newsletters, Home Workouts, and periodic phone calls. Equip parents with strategies for working with their youth that willdecrease incidents of drug usage and violence
Provide weekly prevention training for youth following the Too Good for Drugs curricula.
Become familiar with and implement best practices for enhancing attendance.
Participate in training, staffing, and committee meetings as assigned.
Document all phone calls to clients and parents, activities and review client progress
Record mileage log daily and turns in monthly.
Track information for outcome measures and turn the information in to the Q&A Director in a timely manner.
Provide CALOMS information. Administer pre- and post- testing to students and report data to data management personnel.
Attend work-related, trainings and conferences.
Coordinate with DADS staff to facilitate students requiring treatment to receive treatment services. Make referrals as necessary.
Maintain client documentation in accordance to CFR 42, Section 2 and HIPAA.
Ensure that all contact is maintained in a clean, safe, sanitary and alcohol and drug-free environment.
Age Limitation: Minimum age is 21 years.
Citizenship Requirement: Pursuant to the law, a person must be either a US citizen, a permanent resident alien or meet the provisions ofSection D of Annex 1603 of the North American Free Trade Agreement to engage in business activities at a professional level.
Felony Disqualification: Persons convicted of a felony are not eligible to be appointed to positions of this class.
Background Investigation: Pursuant to the law, persons shall be fingerprinted prior to work in a facility, and shall be subject to abackground investigation by Community Care Licensing and the FBI. Persons who have previously been subjected to this in Advent willnot undergo any further investigation of this type.
Medical Requirement: Persons shall undergo a medical examination to determine that he or she can perform the essential functions ofthe job safely and effectively.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
